Just a Tear Away

When it was extremely hot, in the 110's, I noticed the iceplant had taken a turn for the worse. I had planted two, each nestled at the base of shrubs, on the downhill sides, and I was feeling pretty confident that the moisture in those areas would be sufficient to sustain the iceplants and that all would be well. That was a year ago, and things change and the iceplants were no longer happy. So I gave them each their own emitters, and they did stop their demise, but they looked pretty rough, so I clipped them back.

Here is a start from the iceplant from a few weeks ago and it is taking hold.
So here we have a starter bed of the purple flowering iceplant, and I have alot more cuttings, but my only delimma is that now I need to get away from propagations because unless they are in the ground next to an emitter, they will require hand watering and I prefer to think that I will be curled up in front of a fire, and not sprinkling water on iceplants in starter pots in fridged weather. Wouldn't a little greenhouse be nice?
Today is 9/11 and I am at a loss for words to describe how I feel, except that I am just a tear away.

Thanks for visiting! To all of my gardening friends, carry on and hurry back!

  1. A tear away? You are a strong one! I just let them run yesterday.
The first picture looks like from another world. I like iceplants.

  2. Tatyana, we have petroglyphs at Valley of Fire, and there is a corridor between two ridges, and the walls are filled with pictures etched into the stone. I flashed on that when I sat them down on the flagstone.
